The Marlborough Arts Center is pleased to announce a Beginners’ Class in Digital 35mm
Photography taught by Peter Glass, local commercial and editorial photographer. The series of three 3-hour classes will begin on Tuesday, March 4, from 6 to 9PM, and will continue on the two following Tuesday evenings, ending on March 18, 2025. Classes will be held at the Arts Center, 231 North Main Street, Marlborough.Perhaps you own and shoot with a 35mm digital camera but are ending up with less than satisfactory photos. Or maybe you’re tired of shooting on AUTO, having realized you’d like a better understanding of how your camera works. This, then, is the course for you. All the basic photography concepts will be covered in depth, including:
- Hand-holding the camera
- What aperture, shutter speed, and ISO do, and how to make them work for you
- Methods for avoiding blurry and out-of-focus pictures
- How to make sure your photographs are properly exposed
- The advantages of shooting in Shutter Priority and Aperture Priority
- Digital image editing basics
Then, with camera in hand, we’ll move on to the specific controls that mystify most beginners. These will be identified and thoroughly explained. You will learn exactly where they are located on your camera and precisely what to do with them.
Students should bring to class a 35mm digital camera (with battery charged), battery charger, instruction booklet, extra lenses, if they have them. A detailed, comprehensive handout will be distributed at the beginning of the course. A ten-dollar fee for this handout is included in the total class fee of $120.00.
A registration form can be downloaded here and mailed in, or you may choose to register online. The class is limited to ten students; early enrollment is encouraged.
